Project Details
DThe Class III biological safety cabinet provides an absolute level of safety, which cannot be attained with Class I and Class II cabinets. All Class III cabinets are usually made of welded metal construction and are designed to be gas tight and work is performed through glove ports in the front of the cabinet. During routine operation, negative pressure relative to the ambient environment is maintained within the cabinet which provides an additional fail-safe mechanism in case physical containment is compromised. On all Class III cabinets, exhaust air is HEPA-filtered and incinerated. Materials are transferred into the cabinet using a pass-through unit installed at the side of the work area. Class III cabinets usually exhaust air back to the laboratory; however, air may also be exhausted via a dedicated ductwork system to the external environment. When a dedicated ductwork system is employed, they are also suitable for work employing toxic chemicals as an adjunct to microbiological processes.
Class III cabinets are leak-tight, totally enclosed but ventilated cabinets, where all air that either enters or leaves through the facility pass through a HEPA filter. The cabinets are provided with rubber gloves that are attached to the system to be used during operations in the cabinet. This is why these cabinets are also termed ‘glove boxes’. The cabinet even has a transfer chamber that facilitates the sterilization of materials before they leave the glove box.
Even though the gloves restrict the hand movement of the operator inside the cabinet, it prevents direct contact between the operator and the samples. The exhaust air is treated with double HEPA filters or HEPA filters in combination with incineration. These cabinets can be used for all four Biosafety levels (1, 2, 3, and 4). But these are the most important for the manipulation of biological materials in the Biosafety level 4. These cabinets are mostly custom-built for specific laboratories with lab equipment built inside the chamber. All of these structural and design features provide maximum protection to the operator, the environment, and the sample against the high-risk group 4 pathogenic organisms.

Class III Bio Safety Cabinets offers the highest possible level of safety for personal, product and environment. It’s completely enclosed system which is a leak proof. It has transfer chamber also known as pass box to facilitate material transfer to and from bio safety cabinet. This particular model is also known as Glove Type Bio Safety Cabinet. Class III Bio Safety Cabinet is highly used in Pharmaceutical Industry
